“J.R. Wheeler is an Oregon writer and editor. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from University of Oregon in Eugene. She spent ten years as a daily newspaper copy editor in the Pacific Northwest and now lives on her family farm in eastern Oregon with her husband and twin boys. She writes contemporary romance, middle grade fiction, and young adult dystopian fiction in her copious free time.”
Many of her stories take place in a rural setting, or in the great outdoors, usually Oregon and the greater Pacific Northwest. Her favorite childhood authors include Walt Morey, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Beverly Cleary, and Judy Blume.
By adolescence she discovered John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, and Lois Duncan, and over the years would she’d read everything they ever wrote. Today Nora Roberts remains one of her favorite storytellers, with an impressive library of work and stories that never disappoint. She also enjoys reading her fair share of young adult dystopian fiction.
Among her other favorites are classics such as “Anne of Green Gables” and “The Secret Garden” and “Bridge to Terabithia” and countless others. She may be working on a retelling of one of these classics … so stay tuned.
